We here at NASCARULZ are happy to offer our sincerest congratulations to NASCAR on having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998!!! Everyone involved in racing KNOWS what a ride it was those fifty years with lots more to go!!!
Jeff, how did you do it? How could you RUN OUT OF GAS? You had the 1998 Winston in yer pocket! I root for several different drivers and I'm genuinely sorry when something like this happens.

TALES OF THE GARAGE AREA
As we watch the race at the track, or on television (TNN had the best coverage, in our view - because they often had Buddy Baker doing commentary) a lot of people don't really appreciate what all goes on "behind the scenes" and the GARAGE AREA is one of those places.
During the 1998 season, "TireGate" had a lot of people mad because Jack Roush shot off his mouth where there was nothing to shoot at. Roush claimed Gordon could not take on two tires near the end of a race and go on to WIN unless maybe his team had messed with the tires. Subsequent tests showed nothing out of line with the tires.
In 2001, the TV coverage was shifted to Fox/FX/TNT/NBC and later, ABC and ESPN, when NASCAR signed a new TV contract. As we watch racing now, we are reasonably happy with the coverage (FOX is best - IMHO), although we miss Buddy Baker...
