Michael Rasmussen was removed from the race by his team after winning Wednesday's (July 25 - 2007) stage, the biggest blow yet in cycling's doping-tainted premier event.
"Michael Rasmussen has been sent home for violating (the team's) internal rules," Rabobank team spokesman Jacob Bergsma told The Associated Press by phone.
The expulsion, which Bergsma said was ordered by the Dutch team sponsor, was linked to "incorrect" information that Rasmussen gave to the team's sports director over his whereabouts last month. Rasmussen missed random drug tests May 8 and June 28.

"Alexandre Vinokourov�s positive blood test announced Tuesday July 24 has stunned everyone from riders to organizers. Since his crash, he has been portrayed as a limping hero of what, so far, has been a marvellous Tour. Now, he seems to have been caught introducing homologous blood into his system just before the time trial he won in demonstrative fashion.
His Astana team has withdrawn at the invitation of the organizers and Vinokourov was suspended by Astana pending the confirmation of his positive test in his B analysis. It is very unusual for the second test not to confirm the first. In short, Vinokourov, one of the most respected riders in the peloton, will now leave the sport in disgrace.
Phil Liggett and the guys covering the race on VERSUS were, 'speechless'". The above copied from VERSUS' website.

NO WAY!!!
Now, there's this test...They did it on Floyd during the Tour,
after Stage 17...and he "FLUNKED???"
I believe Floyd's denial of any wrongdoing...
Still, it's a sad thing...just look at all
the controversy surrounding this sport anyway,
and baseball, and on ad nauseum..
yes, as Floyd said..
INNOCENT UNLESS FOUND GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW...
WOW!!!
What a ride...!!!Floyd Landis - USA - Team PHONAK
After being written off after Stage 16,
Landis came out on the attack on Stage 17,
led all the way and WON the stage!!!
He won the Tour by :57 after showing his well-known talent in the
individual time trial - Stage 19, and sipped
the bubbly on the way to Paris!!!
We congratulate Floyd and wish him well
as he now must face hip surgery and a long comeback.
(2006 - In the beginning...)
OPPS!!! A doping scandal has eliminated some
of the top contenders for the final podium.
Leaving the race are names like Jan Ullrich (Team T-Mobile), Ivan Basso (Team CSC) and Franceso Mancebo.
Phil Liggett, OLN commentator basically said on Saturday July 1, 2006,
during the Prologue coverage, "If these people are found innocent, then these
suspensions would be a miscarriage of justice,
and if they are guilty, they should be banned and never come back."
As of the above date, we know of no comments from 7-time champion Lance Armstrong.
